The Holy Quran

Top Religious Gift for Eid al Fitr

The best Religious gift for Eid ul Fitr, in my humble opinion, is a copy of the Holy Quran. It could be a simple one or an ornate one which is expensive.

It would be tough to find a better Islamic gift for any Muslim festival.

Technology has made possible Digital Quran and Islamic Encyclopedia – a nice choice for students and people who travel frequently, though of course you could simply get a Quran app.

For the scholarly amongst us – a nice compilation of Hadith and Sharia books by noted Islamic scholars are certainly a good choice. See for instance: Al-Nawawi Forty Hadiths and Commentary

The Essential Koran: The Heart of Islam – a great translation

This is just what it says: a book with selected quotes from the Quran (aka Koran or Qu’ran) that just help lay people to get to know the world of Islam and prophet Muhammad. Unlike other translations, this one is in fluent and poetic English that does justice to the style of the original.

The book includes a good introduction to Islam as well as quotes from the several books (aka chapters) in the Koran.

Compulsion in religion

There is to be no compulsion in religion.
True direction is in fact distinct from error:
so whoever disbelieves in idols
and believes in God
has taken hold
of the most reliable handle,
which does not break.
For God is all-hearing and all-knowing.

The Qu’ran, The Cow, 256

More quotes from this highly understandable translation of selections from the Quran.
